Todd Heap (hamstring) was among a large group of Ravens players who were not present for the start of practice Wednesday.
Kyle Boller (concussion), Ray Lewis (finger), Daniel Wilcox (thigh), Quinn Synpiewski (concussion) were other notables absent. Troy Smith will start at QB in Week 17, while Lee Vickers apparently has a chance to start at TE.
  • BAL Tight End
Daniel Wilcox (hamstring) and Quinn Sypniewski (concussion) missed practice on Wednesday.
With Todd Heap (hamstring) likely to miss yet another game, the Ravens could be down to fourth stringer Lee Vickers in Week 17.
  • WAS Tight End
    Giants waived TE Lee Vickers.
The former Raven and Steeler was way down the depth chart.
  • BAL Tight End
Ravens signed TE Keith Heinrich and waived TE Lee Vickers.
Vickers, a converted defensive end, was trying to make it as Baltimore’s third TE. Heinrich now gets to battle Adam Bergen and Aaron Walker for that job.
  • WAS Tight End
    Steelers signed TE Lee Vickers.
Vickers replaces Jonathan Dekker, who tore his ACL during Thursday night’s game. He was signed out of college as a defensive end and will work mainly with the practice squad.
  • WAS Tight End
Steelers released TE Lee Vickers, LB Patrick Bailey, WR/KR Eddie Drummond, P Paul Ernster, FB Billy Latsko, OG Doug Legursky, OG Matt Lentz, CB Roy Lewis, S Grant Mason, DE Ryan McBean, OT Jeremy Parquet, DT Scott Paxson, DE Jordan Reffett, WR Willie Reid, WR Micah Rucker, TE Dezmond Sherrod, RB Justin Vincent and CB Travis Williams.
Nothing to see here folks. Good to see the Steelers moving on from Reid and Drummond on returns.
  • BAL Tight End
No. 2 tight end Daniel Wilcox (toe surgery) is not participating at the Ravens’ offseason practices.
A report in the Baltimore Sun three weeks ago indicated Wilcox was healthy, but that isn’t the case. With Quinn Sypniewski (torn ACL) out for the season, ’07 practice squad TE Lee Vickers has a realistic shot to make the Ravens.
  • WAS Tight End
Giants signed TE Lee Vickers, formerly of the Steelers.
Vickers, a college defensive end, will likely be looked at as a blocking tight end in New York. He was among Pittsburgh’s final cuts last August.
  • WAS Tight End
    Redskins released TE Lee Vickers.
The journeyman was trying to stick as the No. 3 tight end behind Chris Cooley and Fred Davis. This is the ninth time that the 29-year-old has been cut.
