Browns signed Alabama K Leigh Tiffin.
Tiffin nailed 30-of-35 field goal tries last season and has good kicker size at 6'0/198, but four missed PATs, including one in the BCS title game, likely left a bad taste in the mouths of NFL decision makers over draft weekend. Cleveland is a good situation for him with Phil Dawson in a contract year.

    Browns waived K Leigh Tiffin.
There’s no explanation on Tiffin’s release after he was just signed on Monday. Veteran Shaun Suisham was signed to take his roster spot.
  • CLE Kicker (FG)
Updating a previous item, Browns K Leigh Tiffin was waived/injured last week, not waived outright.
Tiffin apparently got hurt during his first day at Browns OTAs. He later cleared waivers and is currently on injured reserve. The extent of Tiffin’s injury is unknown, but he could be stashed on I.R. for the 2010 season.
  • CLE Kicker (FG)
The Cowboys have hired Chris Boniol as a kicking consultant for 2010.
Boniol was an NFL kicker from 1994-1999. More importantly for draftniks, he is Alabama K Leigh Tiffin’s offseason trainer. Tiffin, quite possibly this year’s top prospect at the position, was 30-of-35 on field goals as a senior and is a touchback machine. It just so happens that the Cowboys need a kicker.
  • CLE Kicker (FG)
Browns waived K Leigh Tiffin with an injury settlement.
His injury clearly wasn’t severe. The former Alabama standout passed through waivers, so the league clearly isn’t high on Tiffin’s long-term potential.
