Jaguars claimed CB Lorenzo Burns off waivers from the Cardinals.
Burns missed the start of training camp while on the reserve/COVID-19 list and was too far behind the rest of his team to make Arizona’s 53-man roster. The Cardinals brought in Burns as a UDFA from Arizona, where he proved to be a ballhawk, snagging nine interceptions across four years. He may be able to find a role on Jacksonville’s considerably weaker defensive roster.

Cardinals activated CB Lorenzo Burns from the reserve/COVID-19 list.
Burns, an undrafted free agent in April, is well behind schedule after missing two weeks of camp while stuck on the team’s COVID list. He’ll have to prove himself a ballhawk quickly, as he did with nine interceptions at Arizona, in order to make the 53-man roster.

Cardinals placed CB Lorenzo Burns on the reserve/COVID-19 list.
Burns, 23, was signed as an undrafted free agent in April and would have gotten more attention in 2020 had the Arizona program not completely collapsed. Over the course of his career, Burns proved himself as a ballhawk, snatching nine interceptions. The late start to camp could force Burns to the bench to start the year.

Cardinals signed Arizona CB Lorenzo Burns.
A four-year starter, Burns (5'10/183) would have gotten more attention in 2020 had the Arizona program not completely collapsed. Over the course of his career, Burns proved himself as a ballhawk, snatching nine interceptions. His four picks in 2019 earned him an honorable mention nod for the All-PAC 12 squad. Burns relied on great eyes and technique as a college player, often reading down routes well in both man and zone coverage. He was particularly effective in off-coverage, where he could not be bullied at the line due to his size while being able to circumvent his athletic struggles with his eyes and trigger. Burns ran a 4.56 40-yard dash to go along with a disastrous 7.55 three-cone, which will make starting in the NFL a long, long shot. Burns could be an interesting zone corner along the lines of Ross Cockrell.
