Titans T Michael Roos is struggling to adjust to left tackle.
The second-year player is moving from the right side. Tennessee’s rebuilt line is younger this season and will have to improve from a poor 2005 showing.

Titans LT Michael Roos is day-to-day after having his appendix removed Monday.
Roos may be “day-to-day,” but it will be extremely tough for him to suit up just six days after emergency surgery, even for a player who hasn’t missed a game since 2005. Roos has been exceptional on the blindside during his age-30 season. Mike Otto will get the start if Roos can’t go against the Colts.

Titans LT Michael Roos (appendectomy) has been ruled out for Week 8 against Indianapolis.
He’ll be replaced by usual swing tackle Mike Otto. Roos’ absence could bit the Titans this Sunday because Otto will most often match up with Colts RE/OLB Dwight Freeney. Freeney is Indianapolis’ only real pass rusher with Robert Mathis still out due to a knee injury.

The Nashville Tennessean believes the Titans should look to extend LT Michael Roos’ contract this offseason.
Roos, 31, is entering the final year of a six-year, $43 million deal and is set to earn a $6.625 million base salary. He’s missed just one start since being the 41st pick in the 2005 draft out of Eastern Washington. Pro Football Focus graded Roos out as its No. 12 left tackle in 2013. He’s been an anchor in Tennessee.

Titans LT Michael Roos anticipates spending “one more year” with the team.
The Titans used the No. 11 pick on Taylor Lewan, who is Roos’ heir apparent at left tackle. Roos will stay in the blindside for 2014, and hit free agency next March. Michael Oher and Lewan are battling to start at right tackle. Roos is entering his age-32 campaign. He’s still playing at a high enough level to generate big 2015 free agent interest, assuming there’s no 2014 fall off.

The Nashville Tennessean named LT Michael Roos the “offseason star” among the Titans’ offensive line.
Top beat writer Jim Wyatt fully expects Roos to be protecting Jake Locker’s blind side come Week 1, with the real competition taking place on the right side of the line between Michael Oher and Taylor Lewan. If Oher plays like he did in Baltimore, Lewan should have no trouble beating him out talent-wise. However, GM Ruston Webster laughably gave Oher $9.5 million guaranteed in March. Oher is penciled in as the starter, but keep the eraser within reach.

ESPN’s John Clayton believes the Titans could make LT Michael Roos “trade bait” if first-round rookie Taylor Lewan proves ready to start right away.
Roos, 32 in October, is entering the final year of his deal and will count $6.625 million against the cap. While that’s a big chunk of change to take on, Roos has missed just one start since 2005 and is still playing at a high level. He was a top-three tackle at PFF in 2012 before grading out in the top-16 last season while excelling as a run blocker. The Titans would do well to fetch a mid-rounder.

Following the selection of OT Taylor Lewan at No. 11 overall, TitansInsider.com reports there’s some “talk” the Titans could “move” LT Michael Roos.
Roos is in the final year of his deal and is owed a $6.625 million base salary, all of which the Titans could get out from under by releasing him. He’s missed just one start since his 2005 rookie season and has been an above-average left tackle for years. Cutting Roos and replacing him with Lewan would only make sense financially. Why the Titans handed RT Michael Oher $9.5 million guaranteed in March is the real question that needs to be asked.
  • The Nashville Tennessean believes new Titans RT Michael Oher will have to compete with No. 11 overall pick Taylor Lewan in training camp.
This is the same Oher the Titans gave $9.5 million guaranteed in March. Beat writer Jim Wyatt is just stating the obvious, but it’s worth passing along nonetheless. Wyatt “fully expects” each of Oher, Lewan and LT Michael Roos to remain on the roster come Week 1. The Titans have had a baffling offseason.

Titans signed tackle Michael Roos, a second round pick, to an undisclosed contract.
The Estonia native could start at right tackle this season on Tennessee’s changing offensive line.
