Redskins agreed to terms with P Hunter Smith on a one-year contract.
Smith finished tenth in net average last season and will be a significant upgrade on Ryan Plackemeier, who was cut after a woeful season. The Colts will turn to Mike Dragosavic after claiming him off waivers from the Browns.
  • Colts waived P Mike Dragosavich.
Seventh-rounder Pat McAfee would be the Colts’ punter if the season began today, though he will face competition from undrafted free agent Tim Masthay.
  • Colts claimed P Mike Dragosavich off waivers from the Browns.
Dragosavich was undrafted out of North Dakota last April despite leading D-I in average yards per punt. He could give aging Hunter Smith a legitimate run.
  • Browns released QB Bruce Gradkowski, CB Terry Cousin, K Jason Reda, P Mike Dragosavich, and OL Eric Young.
Of these five, only Cousin played much last season. The over-the-hill nickel back appeared in all 16 games and was clearly over matched. Gradkowski’s short-game accuracy and athleticism could get him an audition in the AFL.
