While rookie Tony Hunt has impressed at Eagles training camp of late, Ryan Moats has been putting the ball on the ground.
Nate Ilaoa is seeing some work, but not much. Hunt has shown good power and appears a lock to be third on the depth chart at worst to start the season.
  • PHI Running Back
Rookie Nate Ilaoa and Ryan Moats are reportedly competing for the fourth and final running back spot on the Eagles’ 53-man roster.
Philadelphia kept five RBs last year for special teams purposes but that’s expected to change. Ilaoa is an adept receiver and seems a solid fit for the Birds’ West Coast offense, but Moats drew high marks at early minicamps.
  • PHI Running Back
    Eagles released RB Nate Ilaoa.
The seventh-round rookie was behind Correll Buckhalter and Tony Hunt on the depth chart. He could find a spot on the practice squad.
  • PHI Running Back
Eagles signed seventh-round RB Nate Ilaoa to a four-year contract.
Ilaoa’s deal could be worth up to $2.16 million if he reaches all the playing-time incentives. The former Hawaii wideout-turned-tailback is battling Ryan Moats to be Philadelphia’s fourth-string runner.
  • MIN Running Back
Eagles RB Ryan Moats is likely to miss the upcoming season after fracturing his ankle in Monday night’s preseason game.
Moats was only vying for the No. 4 RB role with rookie Nate Ilaoa, so it’s not a major loss. But because Brian Westbrook tends to be injury prone, the team normally carries four halfbacks. That final spot should now go to Ilaoa. Moats’ career has not gone as planned since being a third-round pick in 2005.
