The Vikings were talking to Kelechi Osemele this week before the guard agreed to a deal with the Raiders and left them to look elsewhere for offensive line help.
They seem to have found it with guard Alex Boone. PFT has confirmed Adam Schefter of ESPN’s report that the Vikings have agreed to a deal with Boone, who has spent his entire six-year career with the 49ers.
Boone has been a starter for much of that time, including 13 starts last season before a knee injury brought his year to an early end. His arrival in Minnesota could mean Mike Harris won’t be re-signed, although there are several directions the Vikings could take as they try to boost their play up front on offense.
Boone will play for offensive line coach Tony Sparano in Minnesota a year after both men were part of the 49ers organization, although Sparano was the position coach for the tight ends during his year on deposed coach Jim Tomsula’s staff.
