When we posted the item earlier today regarding the Bengals’ plan to announce a “major development” regarding the preseason on tomorrow at noon, we’d forgotten all about our past report that they’ll be the team that is featured on this year’s version of Hard Knocks. Several of you reminded us of this fact -- and of the fact that, at times, we’re idiots. And, indeed, that’s the reason for Thursday’s announcement. (Not that we’re idiots, although it’s possible Bengals coach Marvin Lewis might mention that, too.) The show will air in five one-hour episodes, and a 24-person crew from NFL Films will be present at the team’s training camp in Kentucky, in an area that has been declared a Glazer-free zone. Other teams that have opened their doors to the show include the Cowboys (twice), the Ravens, the Jaguars, and the Chiefs. Plenty of teams would never allow such access, given that the five hours that are aired -- and the 695 that aren’t -- could come back to haunt the franchise in some way in the future.
