The San Diego Chargers have added some veteran depth at inside linebacker.
Kevin Bentley, a 10-year veteran who has spent the last three seasons with the Texans, has signed a one-year deal with the Chargers.
The move to add Bentley comes after fellow inside linebacker Stephen Cooper suffered a torn right biceps in Sunday’s preseason game against the Cowboys. Cooper said he thinks he can play through the injury, and he returned to practice on Wednesday, but the Chargers want Bentley as an insurance policy.
Bentley played in 13 games for the Texans last year, starting eight.
