Jaguars running back Denard Robinson’s season has come to an end.
Robinson, who has a foot sprain, is out for the season. The Jaguars announced today that they’re shutting him down.
Robinson, the former star quarterback at Michigan, has been one of the Jaguars’ few bright spots this season. Jacksonville’s running game was a disaster early in the season, when Toby Gerhart was starting, but when Robinson took over for Gerhart as the starting running back, the running game became more effective: Robinson has 135 carries for 582 yards, an average of 4.3 yards a carry, and four touchdowns. Gerhart has 73 carries for 211 yards, an average of 2.9 yards a carry, and one touchdown.
The good news for the Jaguars is that they’ve identified Robinson as their starting running back. He has a bright future in Jacksonville, but not until next year.
