The Giants brought in defensive tackle Damon Harrison as a free agent on a big contract this offseason and they have Johnathan Hankins coming back from a torn pectoral, which means that they have the top of the depth chart filled heading into the season.
It also means that Markus Kuhn will be heading elsewhere rather than returning to the team as a backup. Jordan Raanan of NJ.com reports the Giants made Kuhn an offer, but the unrestricted free agent said farewell to the team in an Instagram post on Thursday.
“I couldn’t be more happy about my time here and I’ll definitely miss that place with all the great people in this building,” Kuhn wrote. “Goodbyes are never fun, even if they’re just a see you later. Thank you for everything you’ve done for me. It’s time to move on and I couldn’t be more excited where life is taking me next. You’ll hear about it soon....”
Raanan reports that Kuhn is expected to sign in the next few days and that an immigration issue has kept the German native from already having the deal done. Kuhn started nine games last season and had 48 tackles and 1.5 sacks in 39 games for the Giants over the last four years.
