Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham fumbled in the first quarter and left the game briefly in the second quarter with a hip injury, but he came back in the third with the biggest offensive play of the season for the Giants.
Beckham got loose down the right sideline and Eli Manning found him in stride for a 75-yard touchdown that looked a lot like the plays that made Beckham a star from the early days of his rookie season. Beckham beat cornerback Will Davis badly and then sprinted the rest of the way to put the Giants up for the first time on the day. Davis is seeing more time Sunday with Jimmy Smith sidelined after suffering a concussion in the first half.
Beckham celebrated by again cuddling with the kicking net on the team’s sideline, something he did after scoring in Green Bay last week in a reference to a previous tantrum ending with the net smacking him in the face after Beckham smacked it.
The celebration was briefly interuppted, however. Joe Flacco hit Mike Wallace for 70 yards to put the Ravens on the doorstep of the end zone. The Giants defense recovered, however, and stuffed Terrence West on fourth down to keep a 17-13 lead on the first play of the fourth quarter.
