After the Packers took defensive lineman Mike Neal in the second round of the 2010 draft, he played in just two games as a rookie. He may have trouble playing even that many games this season.
Neal missed the Packers’ opener, and now Neal has undergone knee surgery and will be out “a significant amount of weeks,” Packers coach Mike McCarthy said.
The Packers aren’t putting Neal on injured reserve, so they apparently think he can return at some point, but it’s troubling that Neal can’t seem to stay healthy.
In better injury news, McCarthy seemed optimistic about the chances of Packers cornerback Tramon Williams to play on Sunday.
