Frankly, we’d forgotten all about Mike Shula. The one-time hot-list coaching prospect when he was at Alabama has been with the Jaguars for four seasons. Before being hired -- and then fired -- by ‘Bama, he had stints with the other two Florida-based NFL teams and the Bears.
He’s now jumping to the Panthers, where he’ll be in charge of coaching the quarterbacks.
“Mike possesses a great knowledge of the quarterback position, having both played there as
well as coaching it,” head coach Ron Rivera said in a statement released by the team. “He has worked with a wide variety of quarterbacks during his career and will be a strong addition to our coaching staff.”
Shula, 45, is the son of legendary Colts and Dolphins coach Don Shula.
