The Panthers have added a player to their safety corps.
The team announced Monday that they have signed Trenton Robinson to a one-year contract. Robinson was a 2012 sixth-round pick of the 49ers and spent the last three seasons with the Redskins.
Robinson started seven of Washington’s first nine games last year before suffering a hamstring injury that sent him to injured reserve. He was eventually released with an injury settlement. Robinson had 52 tackles and an interception before his injury.
Roman Harper and Kurt Coleman were the starters at safety on their way to the NFC title last season. Harper is a free agent at the moment, leaving Tre Boston, Dean Marlowe and Colin Jones as the other holdovers at the position from last year’s team.
