Report: Blank seethed as Vick threw garbage-time score against Falcons

Divisional Playoffs - Green Bay Packers v Atlanta Falcons

ATLANTA, GA - JANUARY 15: Team owner Arthur Blank of the Atlanta Falcons looks on form the sideline late in the fourth quarter against the Green Bay Packers during their 2011 NFC divisional playoff game at Georgia Dome on January 15, 2011 in Atlanta, Georgia. (Photo by Streeter Lecka/Getty Images)

As the Eagles prepare to return to the Georgia Dome, with Mike Vick now the starting quarterback, it makes sense to devote some time to the last time Vick and the Eagles were in town.

The Eagles blew out the Falcons, 34-7, and Philly coach Andy Reid inserted Vick into the game late, allowing him to throw a 43-yard pass to receiver Reggie Brown and a five-yard touchdown to tight end Brent Celek. The score, which came after most Falcons fans left and as Vick supporters reveled, didn’t sit well with Atlanta owner Arthur Blank.

Mike Silver of Yahoo! Sports reports that Blank “would come to view” the move “as a gratuitous gesture of disrespect.”

Blank will join Peter King, Russ Thaler, and yours truly on tonight’s NBC SportsTalk, and we’ll ask Blank about that moment, along with plenty of other things.

Tune in to VERSUS at 6:00 p.m. ET for the show. We’ll also be joined by Steelers safety Ryan Clark and 49ers tight end Vernon Davis.

Plus, Rosenthal will be sitting at the grown-ups’ table for the fantasy football segment, since I’m appearing via signals transmitted by tin can and string from my basement.
