Seahawks color Mike Teel blue

Last year, the Seattle Seahawks spent a sixth-round draft pick on former Rutgers quarterback Mike Teel.

And now, after a full season on the roster and no appearances in any regular-season games, Teel has been cut loose by the Seahawks. According to Greg Johns of seattlepi.com, Teel broke the news on his Twitter page.

Per league rules, Teel will be required to pass through waivers. Obvious potential landing spots include the Bears, given that former Seahawks G.M. Tim Ruskell is now the team’s director of player personnel, and the Titans, given that former Seattle exec Ruston Webster is now the V.P. of player personnel there.

The move is the latest in a series of quarterback changes for the Seahawks. Seneca Wallace has been traded to the Browns, Charlie Whitehurst has been acquired via trade with the Chargers, and J.P. Losman has been plucked from the Raiders’ trash heap.

Meanwhile, the Seahawks recently claimed Mike Reilly off waivers from the Rams -- and cut him two days later.
