Erasmus James wasn’t the only former first-rounder to be suspended by the league on Saturday.
According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, receiver Reggie Williams has been slapped with a two-game suspension.
The suspension undoubtedly arises from Williams’ guilty plea in May 2009 to possession of a controlled substance.
Williams was the ninth overall pick in 2004. The Jaguars made no attempt to re-sign Williams after his rookie contract expired following the 2008 season, and no one else has shown serious interest in retaining his services.
The fact that he was arrested just as free agency began probably was a factor.
