Vikings hire Brent Salazar as strength and conditioning coach
Among several changes to the Vikings coaching staff since the end of their season was the departure of strength and conditioning coach Evan Marcus after two seasons with the team.
The Vikings named his replacement on Wednesday with a release announcing that they have hired Brent Salazar to head things up on that front. Salazar had been an assistant strength and conditioning coach with the Chiefs since the 2007 season.
One area where the Vikings will surely like to see better results under Salazar is with pectoral muscle injuries. They saw tackle Phil Loadholt, guard Brandon Fusco, defensive end Brian Robison, tackle Carter Bykowski and cornerback Josh Robinson miss time with that injury over the last two seasons. They also saw running back Jerick McKinnon and center John Sullivan either suffer injuries or setbacks while lifting weights.
The Vikings have also added Pat Shurmur and Tony Sparano to their coaching staff after winning the NFC North last season.
