Vince Young: “I Didn’t Want To Play No More”

In the latest revelation about Tennessee Titans quarterback Vince Young, the emotional former NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year disclosed that he thought about walking away from the game due to being booed last year and other issues. Young made the statement during an ESPN interview, per Gary Estwick of the Tennessean. “I was to the point where man, I didn’t really want to play no more because of the fact that I was that hurt,” Young said. “I was that hurt from the boos and all the different things that were going on. It was just so much for me. I didn’t want to play no more.” Young, who made headlines recently when he suggested to Baltimore television station WMAR-TV, that he wanted to be traded, sang a different tune to ESPN where he said he didn’t want to be traded. However, Kerry Collins has a firm grip on the starting job and signed a two-year contract this offseason. Meanwhile, Young denied that he contemplated suicide. “It was a lot going on that night, man,” Young said. “Nine police officers, a negotiator talking to me like, ‘Hey Vince, are you OK?’ “This is my time to get it out and let people across the world know what really happened that night. So people can understand and you know, I can stop getting them questions asked. ‘You trying to kill yourself, man?’” Clarifying these personal situations is one thing, but remaining in the news cycle for past incidents is another altogether. For the former University of Texas star, a once promising NFL career has gotten derailed. Getting it back on track is going to require a low-key approach. So far, Young is demonstrating that he’s anything but low-key and low-maintenance.
