Jaguars OT Richard Collier and rookie LB Justin Durant were arrested Saturday morning in two separate incidents.
What luck. Collier was arrested for DUI, while Durant was charged with resisting arrest without violence. Collier is still in jail, and neither made the team flight to New Orleans. Durant was a second-round pick in April.
  • Jaguars activated T Richard Collier and LB Justin Durant off the reserve/suspended list.
Collier and Durant, a 2007 second-round pick, were out two games following arrests for off-the-field incidents.
  • Free agent OL Maurice Williams is not expected back with the Jags in 2008.
Williams started inside after G Chris Naeole tore his quads in 2007, but his best position is tackle. Richard Collier will likely replace Williams as the Jaguars’ swing lineman. Williams should get a chance to start elsewhere.
  • Jaguars suspended OT Richard Collier and LB Justin Durant for Week 10 and fined them after the two were arrested on Saturday morning.
In addition, the Jags fined LT Khalif Barnes, who showed up late for Saturday’s walkthrough for unspecified reasons. Barnes was benched in Week 9 against the Saints, but had to play due to injuries in front of him.
  • Jaguars LT Khalif Barnes has retaken his starting job after appearing to lose it to Richard Collier earlier this offseason.
Barnes is nearing the end of his contract and should be motivated to play well on David Garrard’s blind side. Collier will be a swing tackle this season.
  • Jaguars backup T Richard Collier was shot early Tuesday morning and faces life-threatening injuries.
Collier and former Jaguars DE Kenneth Pettway had been clubbing, and an unknown person fired multiple shots at Collier while he was sitting in the driver’s seat of an Escalade.
  • Jaguars coach Jack Del Rio said Tuesday night that T Richard Collier (gunshot wounds) is currently “battling for his life.”
Collier was shot several times early Tuesday and is currently in critical condition. “All we can do right now is pray for healing. We have no control over that situation,” Del Rio said. Police have found no motive for the attack.
  • Jaguars OT Richard Collier pleaded no contest Monday to a charge of DUI after he was found passed out at a McDonalds’ drive-thru last Nov. 3.
The Jags don’t seem worried about the arrest. They gave Collier a contract extension this spring and have him rotating with Khalif Barnes at left tackle during OTAs. There is a chance that Collier will start this season.
  • Jaguars placed OT Richard Collier (gunshot wounds) on the non-football injury list.
It still hasn’t been revealed where Collier’s wounds are or exactly how many times he was shot, but he remains in critical condition and won’t play in 2008.
  • A jury has convicted a man for the attempted murder of ex-Jaguars OT Richard Collier in September of 2008.
Tyrone Hartsfield, 33, could serve as long as life in prison for the six gunshots that left Collier paralyzed, ending his NFL career. “I feel like I didn’t receive a fair trial,” said Hartfield, composing himself after “going into hysterics” in court. Collier knocked out Hartsfield in a bar brawl months prior to the shooting, so he had a motive. All six shots were to Collier’s back.
