The Giants have discussed moving Reuben Droughns to fullback, but coordinator Kevin Gilbride says a conversion is not in the cards for now.
Droughns has experience at fullback but the Giants are more likely to give Robert Douglas a shot to replace Jim Finn. New York may end up taking a look at free agents like Daimon Shelton, James Hodgins, or Jerald Sowell.
  • NYG Running Back
Giants signed RB Robert Douglas from their practice squad and waived DE Marquies Gunn.
Douglas had been recovering from a meniscus injury. His addition means Reuben Droughns should strictly be a tailback going forward. Gunn, an undrafted rookie from Auburn, was only on the roster for a few days.
  • NYG Running Back
Giants FB Robert Douglas will miss several weeks with a torn meniscus.
Douglas was expected to be New York’s starter this season with the loss of Jim Finn. Instead, Reuben Droughns could now step into that role.
  • NYG Running Back
Giants placed FB Robert Douglas on injured reserve with a lingering knee injury, ending his season.
The Giants will turn to recently acquired Madison Hedgecock to be their starting lead blocker going forward. Douglas wasn’t that valuable anyways.
  • CAR Wide Receiver
Giants waived WR Marcus Monk, FB Robert Douglas, OG Kurt Quarterman, TE Eric Butler, DT Ogemdi Nwagbuo, LB James Terry, and OL Cliff Louis.
The Jints will likely try to get Monk onto the practice squad. He has a high long-term ceiling at 6'4/222 with wheels. Quarterman went to Louisville.
