According to Brad Biggs of the National Football Post, free agent OL Sean Mahan turned down an offer from the Raiders.
Not everyone wants to enter the black hole that is the Raiders’ organization. Mahan, 29, is hopeful to get a call from another club soon.
  • Recently released G/C Sean Mahan is scheduled to meet with the Raiders.
It’s indictment of Samson Satele, who hasn’t been able to beat out John Wade this summer. If Mahan signed with Oakland, he could end up starting later in the season.
  • The Steelers aren’t expected to pursue signing OL Kendall Simmons or RT Max Starks to contract extensions before the end of the upcoming season.
Both are in contract years. Simmons is in the hunt to replace retired Jeff Hartings at center but is behind Chukky Okobi and possibly Sean Mahan at the moment. Starks will face in-camp competition from Willie Colon.
  • HOU Center
After he lost his starting job to Sean Mahan, the Steelers may release center Chukky Okobi.
With a $2 million base salary, Okobi may be too expensive to keep around as a backup who can play only one position. Arizona could be interested in him.
  • Bucs G/C Sean Mahan has agreed to restructure his contract, reducing his base salaries through 2011.
The Bucs paid Mahan over $6M last year to catch pine needles behind Jeff Faine. This deal likely means he’ll keep a roster spot, but Mahan is now year to year with the club. None of his remaining base salaries are guaranteed.
  • Bucs released G/C Sean Mahan.
Mahan was paid over $6 million to guard the water cooler last season, and he restructured his deal in June to avoid being cut. It turns out that it didn’t matter. Mahan was due $5+ million over the next three years.
  • The Bucs have already contacted free agent C Sean Mahan about re-signing with the club in the wake of Jeff Faine’s triceps injury.
Mahan was just cut last weekend. The Bucs traded for him before last season, but he never saw the field behind Faine. Mahan is a capable journeyman, but he won’t open holes for the running game like Faine did.
  • Bucs re-signed OL Sean Mahan to a one-year contract.
With Jeff Faine (triceps) out at least 4-6 weeks, Mahan will compete in practice with undrafted rookie Jonathan Compas to start at center in Week 2.
  • Buccaneers released C Sean Mahan.
Mahan was re-signed last month and started four games while Jeff Faine was out with a triceps injury. With Faine now healthy, Mahan was no longer needed.
