Texans signed DE Tim Jamison to a two-year extension through 2014.
Jamison was previously signed through 2012 at $615,000. He had been slated for 2013 unrestricted free agency. A valuable reserve behind LE J.J. Watt and RE Antoine Smith, Jamison recorded 19 tackles, two sacks, and a forced fumble off the bench in 2011. In Sunday’s opener against Miami, Jamison had another sack.

Texans DE Tim Jamison was forced from Sunday’s game against the Packers with a right Achilles’ tendon injury, and will not return.
Achilles’ injuries rarely end well, so it’s possible Jamison’s night isn’t the only thing that’s through. A valuable reserve pass rusher, Jamison was signed to a two-year extension in September. He has one sack through six games.

Texans DE Tim Jamison has been diagnosed with a torn Achilles’ tendon, and is done for the season.
Jamison went down in a heap in Sunday night’s loss, so the news isn’t a surprise. Jamison is a reserve, but was signed to a two-year extension in September, and perhaps being groomed as a future starter. He’ll finish 2012 with one tackle and three sacks. It’s not a guarantee he’ll be ready for next summer’s camp, but that should be the case.

Jamison, 27, tore his Achilles’ in Week 6 last season. The top reserve behind LE J.J. Watt and RE Antonio Smith, Jamison had three tackles and a sack in his six games of action. He “could be” ready for the start of training camp.

Jamison appeared in every game as the top reserve to J.J. Watt and Jared Crick prior to going down. He’ll finish 2014 with 19 tackles and 1.5 sacks. An impending free agent, Jamison should be limited to one-year offers. The Texans promoted DE Keith Browner from the practice squad in a corresponding move.
