UCF redshirt senior WR Tre Nixon announced on Tuesday that he will enter the 2021 NFL Draft.
Nixon (6'2/180) missed most of the 2020 season due to a shoulder injury that he suffered during the Knights’ season-opening win at Georgia Tech. As a result the redshirt senior appeared in just four games, catching 19 passes for260 yards and two touchdowns. Nixon was at his best during the 2019 season, as he posted a receiving line of 49-830-7. Nixon projects to be a Day 3 selection in this spring’s draft, with Pro Football Network draft analyst Tony Pauline giving him a fifth-round grade.

UCF redshirt senior WR Tre Nixon is going through warmups ahead of Saturday’s game vs. Cincinnati.
Given how good Cincinnati has been this season, it would be great news for UCF if Nixon (6'2/180 was able to play. The redshirt senior was injured during the Knights’ season-opening win over Georgia Tech, and he’s hasn’t appeared in a game since. Not only was Nixon catching passes during warmups, but he was also able to run some routes. That bodes well when it comes to his availability for Saturday’s showdown.

  • Wide Receiver
UCF redshirt senior WR Tre Nixon (upper body) is not warming up ahead of Saturday’s game vs. Temple.
Nixon (6'2/180) has not appeared in a game since he was injured while making a diving touchdown catch in the season opener at Georgia Tech. The redshirt senior did some early work Saturday evening, but when the other wide receivers returned to the field in uniform Nixon wasn’t seen. If he can’t play against Temple, the hope is that Nixon will be available when the Knights host Cincinnati next week.

UCF redshirt senior WR Tre Nixon (upper body) is back at practice with his availability for Saturday’s game against Temple listed as questionable.
Nixon (6'2/180) was hurt in UCF"s season opener against Georgia Tech on a diving catch that resulted in his second touchdown reception. He has missed the last several games but recent reports of him practicing gives rise to the possibility the redshirt senior could play this weekend. HC Josh Heupel has be pretty forthcoming about his star wide receiver’s availability. When asked about Nixon’s playing status for this Saturday, Heupel said “I like where he’s at.” Though vague, it’s by far the most encouraging statement we’ve gotten out of Central Florida’s coaching staff regarding the injury. HC Heupel added that he will leave the decision as to whether or not Nixon will suit up this weekend against Temple to the team doctors.

  • Wide Receiver
UCF redshirt senior WR Tre Nixon is not warming up for Saturday’s game vs. Tulane due to an undisclosed injury.
Nixon (6'2/180) is one of UCF’s best options in the passing game, so his not being on the field would certainly have an impact. The redshirt senior, who caught 49 passes for 830 yards and seven touchdowns last season, has not appeared in a game since UCF’s season-opening win at Georgia Tech.

  • Wide Receiver
UCF redshirt senior WR Tre Nixon (upper body) is still not cleared for a return to game action.
Nixon (6'2/180) was hurt in UCF"s season opener against Georgia Tech on a diving catch that resulted in his second touchdown reception. He has missed the last three games and may be out a while longer. When asked about his status for this Saturday against Tulane, HC Josh Heupel said “Don’t know where he’s at yet as far as being cleared for this one.” If there’s anything we’ve learned from Heupel regarding injury reporting, he’s enthusiastic when a player is ready to return from injury and evasive when a player isn’t. Following the trend, it’s unlikely Nixon suits up this weekend against the Green Wave.

  • Wide Receiver
UCF HC Josh Heupel said he has “no real update” on redshirt senior WR Tre Nixon’s (upper body) playing condition for Oct. 17’s game against Memphis.
Nixon (6'2/180) was knocked out of the Georgia Tech game a couple few ago and has not seen action since. His absence against ECU the following week was expected, though his status for last Saturday’s game against Tulsa was up in the air until game day. Nixon ultimately did not play. Now, the Knights have an extra week between games, but Nixon’s status is still up in the air, according to Heupel. The HC said he is excited to get Nixon back, but isn’t ready to give any real update on whether he can play on Oct. 17. Nixon caught four passes for 94 yards and two touchdowns before leaving the Georgia Tech game.

UCF redshirt senior WR Tre Nixon (upper body) was not seen on the field for warmups ahead of Saturday’s game vs. Tulsa.
Nixon (6'2/180), who missed the Knights’ win over East Carolina, suffered the injury during the season-opening win over Georgia Tech. With the redshirt senior appearing unlikely to play, UCF will rely even more on Marlon Williams and Jaylon Robinson in the passing game.

  • Wide Receiver
UCF HC Josh Heupel says redshirt senior WR Tre Nixon’s (undisclosed) status for Saturday has not been finalized.
Nixon (6'2/180) was injured in UCF’s opener against Georgia Tech and missed the following game against East Carolina. It was more or less a given that Nixon would not play last week, but his status appears to be more up in the air this week. Heupel refused to say for certain whether or not Nixon would be a go and instead said the team will wait to see as kickoff gets closer. Nixon caught 49 passes for 830 yards and seven touchdowns last season.

  • Wide Receiver
UCF redshirt senior WR Tre Nixon (upper body) does not appear to be warming up in advance of Saturday’s game against ECU.
Nixon (6'2/180) was injured while making a touchdown catch against Georgia Tech last weekend. While his likely loss for Saturday is less than palatable, the Knights will still have more than enough firepower to run their offense against the Pirates. Nixon’s next chance at game action -- barring a late turnaround on Saturday -- will come against Tulsa next Saturday.
