Bengals coach Marvin Lewis says C Kyle Cook will face competition from second-year pro Trevor Robinson in 2013.
Cook was a 16-game starter from 2009-11, but was limited to four games by an ankle injury last season. Robinson was spotty in Cook’s place as a rookie. The Bengals could look to add another competitor in the draft or free agency.

Kyle Cook remains in the lead for the Bengals’ center job.
Second-year pro Trevor Robinson was expected to push Cook in camp, but missed the entire spring with a pectoral injury. An ankle injury limited Cook to just four games last season, but Robinson was not effective in his place.
  • Chargers released C Trevor Robinson.
Robinson started 13 games at center for the Chargers last season, but was obliterated as both a run and pass blocker, grading out as Pro Football Focus’ worst offensive lineman in the league. Matt Slauson was signed to be San Diego’s new center. Robinson would be better off as an interior backup.
  • Falcons placed C/G Trevor Robinson on the reserve/retired list.
A 13-game starter for the 2015 Chargers and seven-game starter for the Bengals in 2012, Robinson was expected to compete for a reserve job on Atlanta’s interior. 27-year-old Robinson is instead calling it a career before camp.
  • Chargers re-signed C Trevor Robinson to a two-year contract.
It’s worth “up to” $4.25 million based on playing time. Robinson was originally scheduled for restricted free agency after being in on 172 offensive snaps last season. He’s not the long-term answer for retired C Nick Hardwick.
