The move clears a roster spot for waivers acquisition Jordan Shipley. A former undrafted free agent, Wright has appeared in 51 games since 2006, but none since 2009. He has just eight career catches. Wallace is likely at the end of the line.

A special teams ace for the Jets from 2007-09, Wright has caught just eight passes in his five-year career. A track athlete at Utah State, Lewis played just one year of football, for Central Washington University. He’s a longshot for a kick return role.

Montreal is Marc Trestman’s old stomping grounds. Wright has appeared in 51 career NFL games, but none since 2009. He was among the Bucs’ first cuts last summer.

The vet couldn’t win a spot over WR Wallace Wright, who made an impression on special teams last season.

Wright, primarily a special teamer the last two seasons, made some strides as a pass catcher late in 2007 and hauled in two passes for 47 yards in the season finale. At best, Wright figures to be a fourth receiver in 2008.

A special teams ace for the past three seasons, Wright has just six career receptions. While the Jets’ receiving roles appear wide open after Jerricho Cotchery, Wright is a long-shot to leapfrog Chansi Stuckey and Brad Smith.
