Vancouver Canucks captain Henrik Sedin has left Saturday’s game versus the San Jose Sharks with an upper-body injury and will not return, the team stated on Twitter.
Sedin was hit hard into the boards by Sharks defenseman Brent Burns in the first period. He was slow to get up but did remain in the game at least for a few more minutes.
He didn’t emerge with the rest of his teammates to begin the second period.

Any prolonged absence from the lineup would be a big loss for the rebuilding Canucks. For starters, Henrik and twin brother Daniel Sedin are the leaders on what has become a young team in Vancouver.
Henrik, the Canucks’ No. 1 center, is also second on the team in points with 48 in 57 games entering Saturday’s contest.
