RDS is reporting that Andrei Markov could make his long-awaited return to lineup for the Montreal Canadiens tomorrow in Anaheim.
The Habs’ star defenseman last played over a year ago (Nov. 13, 2010) when he tore up his knee against the Carolina Hurricanes.
The Canadiens (10-10-4) will be thrilled to have Markov back in time for their tough three-games-in-four-nights road trip against the Ducks, Sharks (Thursday) and Kings (Saturday). Montreal is 5-5-2 in its last 12 outings, a middling stretch that followed a four-game winning streak that may have saved coach Jacques Martin’s job.
Markov should help the Habs’ awful power play (12.8%) while providing some veteran experience on a blue line that sorely needs it.
Another injured Montreal defenseman, Jaroslav Spacek (upper-body), has resumed skating with the club, though there’s no word on a possible return date.
