Phillips signs two-year extension with Sens
Veteran defenseman Chris Phillips is sticking with the Ottawa Senators, the team that drafted him first overall all the way back in 1996.
According to multiple reports, Phillips has agreed to a two-year contract extension worth an average annual value of $2.5 million, with a no-trade clause. The 35-year-old had been rumored as a possible pick-up for the Boston Bruins to help fill the hole left by Dennis Seidenberg’s injury.
Phillips has played 1,125 regular-season games in the NHL, all with the Sens. He has 283 career points (71 goals, 212 assists).
