Reinforcements are on the way for Carolina after they had to place Austin Corbett and Robert Hunt on the practice squad. Samac will back up Cade Mays and Chandler Zavala, who will get the first crack at starting roles on the interior line.

The Athletic’s Colton Pouncy writes that Notre Dame freshman OL Nick Samac “could work his way onto the field” this fall.

Samac (6'4/284) signed on with the Spartans as a three-star recruit over the winter and impressed right off the bat in spring practice, with MSU HC Mark Dantonio talking up his quickness. Pouncy notes that "[i]t helps that Samac is versatile enough to play tackle or guard.” He will need to keep up his momentum in August camp if he is to land a rotational role on the line, but the early signs have been very positive.
