Andrew Snope recorded one of the greatest feet feats in human history Friday and Saturday, running 136.98 miles in 24 hours while barefoot, reportedly a world record.
Snope, a 28-year-old bartender from Savannah, Ga., ran around a track repeatedly at the Six Days at the Dome race in Anchorage, Alaska, stopping only for six bathroom breaks, according to the Alaska Dispatch News.
“You feel pretty ecstatic,’’ Snope, who said he’s never owned a pair of running shoes and has been a runner for less than three years, told the newspaper after finishing. “Your senses are really heightened.
“To take a shower is ecstasy. To sit down is mind-blowing.’’
The previous record for 24 hours of barefoot running was 131.43 miles, according to the newspaper. The Guinness World Record for farthest distance in 24 hours with shoes is 188.59 miles.
