Olympic 400m champion Sanya Richards-Ross strained her right hamstring when she pulled up midway through a race Saturday, an injury that required her to be carried off the track.
Richards-Ross is hopeful to race at the U.S. Olympic Trials starting July 1 after an MRI revealed the strain, her agent said Thursday. She is unlikely to race before trials.
Richards-Ross, 31, plans to retire at the end of this Olympic season.
She finished seventh in a 400m at the Pre Classic on May 28 in 52.16, well off the time she needs at trials to make her fourth Olympic team by finishing in the top three for the individual 400m and likely top six for the 4x400m relay.
