Lions selected Arizona DT PJ Johnson with the No. 229 overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft.
Well traveled after he was not recruited out of high school, Johnson (6'3/221), Johnson bounced from FCS to JUCO to the PAC-12. Along the way, he dealt with a host of injuries, some of which were beyond his control (appendix, leg tumor). He is being drafted as a piece of clay to be molded. Johnson will almost certainly spend 2019 on the practice squad.
