Misch

Misch surrendered 11 hits and eight earned runs in seven innings this past year for the Mets. He’ll function as organizational depth in the Phils’ system next season.

The 30-year-old Misch allowed 11 hits and eight earned runs in seven innings for the Mets this season, but left-handers are often given second, third and fourth chances. He should find a minor league contract.

Misch spent all of 2012 at Triple-A with the Phillies, posting a 4.98 ERA over 21 starts. He’ll represent depth in the minors.

Misch is a more intriguing prospect than fellow lefty Brian Burres, but it might be Burres who becomes a starting pitcher for the Giants this month. It’d have a lot to do with Misch’s earlier struggles in Triple-A, even if he does have the superior Double-A numbers.

Misch was 3-9 with a 6.35 ERA, 135 H and 69/40 K/BB in 102 IP for Triple-A Fresno. The 23-year-old lefty entered the season as one of the Giants’ best pitching prospects. He still might be a fourth or fifth starter.

Misch spent 2015 at Triple-A with the Marlins, posting a 3.25 ERA over 16 appearances -- 11 starts. He hasn’t appeared in the majors since 2011 and is merely a depth addition.

Misch got a more lucrative offer from the Orix Buffaloes in Japan, so the Brewers will let him free of his non-guaranteed minor league deal. The 34-year-old left-hander spent the entire 2015 season at the Triple-A level, posting a 3.25 ERA in 72 innings for the Marlins’ Pacific Coast League affiliate in New Orleans. He last appeared in the majors in 2011 with the Mets.

He takes Randy Messenger’s spot. Misch made two starts for the Giants earlier this month, but he’s expected to pitch out of the pen for now.

Misch gave up eight hits, walked two, and struck out four in his second career big league start. The left-hander has pitched reasonably well in his first two outings, but he’s still not a recommended play when he gets the Pirates next time out.

Misch made two starts for the Giants, giving up five runs in 10 1/3 innings. He could get another look if Russ Ortiz bombs.
