Weigel

Weigel spent 2025 with the Nationals, posting an 8.29 ERA in 33 2/3 innings with Triple-A Rochester. However, he then went to the Dominican Winter League and posted a 1.19 ERA with a 34/5 K/BB ratio in 30 1/3 innings. In his nine seasons in the minors, he has registered a 3.92 ERA in 523 2/3 innings, so he at least could serve as organizational depth for the Rockies.

Weigel hasn’t appeared in the big leagues since making four appearances over a two-year span from 2020-2021 between the Braves and Brewers. The 30-year-old righty spent last year in the Reds’ system before pitching in the independent Mexican League. He’s back in affiliated ball as extra organizational depth for the rebuilding Nationals.

Weigel hasn’t appeared in the majors since making three relief appearances for the Brewers during the 2021 season. The 30-year-old righty is back in affiliated ball following a solid 39-appearance stretch this year for Saraperos de Saltillo in the independent Mexican League. He’s merely emergency organizational relief depth at this juncture of his career.

It’s the first series of cuts for the Mariners this spring. Weigel is the most interesting of the bunch having appeared in four games in the majors over the last two seasons with the Braves and Brewers.

Weigel, 27, has appeared in four games at the major league level over the last two seasons for the Braves and Brewers. Last year was the first time he worked exclusively as a reliever.

The right-hander was desingated for assignment at the trade deadline but went unclaimed on waivers. Weigel struck out nine over four innings for the Brewers this season while allowing two runs. The 27-year-old will return to Triple-A where he is carrying a 6.84 ERA and 1.72 WHIP over 25 frames.

The Brewers needed to free up a spot on the 40-man roster and it would appear as though Weigel drew the short straw. The 27-year-old hurler sports a 4.50 ERA, 2.00 WHIP and 9/4 K/BB ratio over four innings at the big league level this season. He could potentially attract some interest on waivers.

Weigel is clearing out for the arrival of Hunter Strickland. He’s allowed two runs over four relief innings for the Brew Crew this season.

Weigel will be available out of the Milwaukee bullpen for Thursday afternoon’s series finale against the Reds. He has allowed two runs on four hits and four walks in four innings this season at the MLB level.
