Saints waived CB Josh Victorian, LB Stephen Johnson, OG Nick Howell, OT Phil Trautwein, and OT Dan Hoch.
They were all roster longshots from the get-go. Victorian is a former UDFA out of nearby Louisiana Tech. He needed a better rookie camp showing to last.
  • FA Running Back #36
Saints signed RB Chris Taylor, WR Andy Tanner, OT Phil Trautwein, OT Fenuki Tupou, DB Kamaal McIlwain, and NT Mitch King to reserve/futures contracts.
Undrafted out of Indiana all the way back in 2006, Taylor last suited up for the Texans in the 2008 season. He’s rushed for 160 yards on 42 carries (3.8 YPC) in seven career games. Taylor won’t earn a spot in the Saints’ crowded backfield next season.
  • FA Tackle #72
Chargers waived or released OT Phil Trautwein, WR Jason Barnes, WR Taylor Embree, WR Phillip Payne, DT Eddie Brown, RB Michael Hayes, TE Brad Taylor and LS Nick Guess.
The Bolts released veteran WR Roscoe Parrish earlier Monday. Trautwein is still only 26 years old, but hasn’t appeared in a game since 2009. His career is quickly running out of steam.
  • FA Defensive Back #42
Chargers signed SS Corey Lynch, OT Phil Trautwein, and P Robert Malone.
Lynch started eight of 32 games with the Bucs the past two seasons, but he’s essentially a special teamer. Trautwein will vie for the final offensive line spot. Malone will be a golfing buddy for standout punter Mike Scifres until he’s released after training camp.
  • FA Tackle #72
Free agent OT Phil Trautwein is trying out for the Lions on Saturday.
Trautwein couldn’t survive final cuts with the Chargers last season, and hasn’t appeared in a game since 2009. He’d be a warm body for the final few weeks of camp.
  • FA Tackle #72
Rams signed OL Phil Trautwein, formerly of the Browns practice squad.
Trautwein was on the Browns’ active roster for the first four weeks, but didn’t play. He’s a long-term project and possible future right tackle.
  • FA Tackle #72
    Browns waived OL Phil Trautwein.
The Browns needed an open roster spot after their two-for-one trade, and Trautwein was the unlucky loser. He’ll be a practice squad candidate if he clears waivers.
  • LA Running Back #35
Browns signed RB Quinn Porter, OTs Phil Trautwein and Branndon Braxton, OG Pat Murray, TE Tyson DeVree, FB Tyler Clutts, and DB DeAngelo Smith to reserve/futures contracts.
Porter was expected to make the Packers out of camp last summer, but his season was derailed by a sprained MCL. He spent time on the Redskins’ practice squad before landing in Cleveland. The Stillman college product will fight for a spot behind Peyton Hillis and Montario Hardesty next summer.
  • FA Tackle #72
    Rams waived/injured OT Phil Trautwein.
St. Louis’ roster is now down to 75. Trautwein’s season-ending injury was a torn MCL. He was an undrafted free agent out of Florida in 2009.
  • FA Tackle #72
Rams released OT Phil Trautwein with an injury settlement.
Trautwein becomes a free agent, though he won’t play anytime soon due to a torn MCL. The Florida product is an unintriguing right tackle-only prospect.
