    Alaniz passed through waivers unclaimed earlier this week and will head back to Triple-A Louisville. The 30-year-old righty has made just three appearances at the big-league level this season.

    This move clears out a 40-man roster spot for relief prospect Dauri Moreta, who will get his first taste of MLB action down the stretch. Alaniz, 30, logged only 2 2/3 innings of relief this season with Cincinnati, allowing one earned run on a hit and three walks.
