Dolis signed a minor league contract with the White Sox back in early May and never wound up making it back to the majors. The 34-year-old righty compiled a lackluster 5.02 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and 28/14 K/BB ratio across 28 2/3 innings (28 appearances) this season for Triple-A Charlotte. He’s made 103 career relief appearances in the big leagues since 2011.

After passing through waivers without being claimed, Dolis will continue to function as organizational bullpen depth for the Blue Jays. Dolis had earned three saves this season for the Jays, but he heads to the waiver wire with an overall 5.63 ERA, 1.75 WHIP, and 39/27 K/BB ratio in 32 total innings. Kevin Smith has been called up in a corresponding 40-man roster move ahead of Wednesday’s scheduled game against the Nationals.

The move isn’t official yet because there’s a chance that the Blue Jays’ scheduled game Wednesday in Washington is going to be rained out, but Dolis will eventually get the boot to clear out a 40-man roster spot for the arrival of infield prospect Kevin Smith. Toronto is also planning to activate Tim Mayza (elbow) with Alek Manoah going on the bereavement list.

The 33-year-old has been sidelined since mid-June with a right finger strain and will be a welcomed addition to a weakened Toronto bullpen, even if his stat line disagrees. Dolis currently has a 5.12 ERA and 1.57 WHIP over 21 frames this season.

Dolis scattered a hit over a shutout frame out of the Bisons’ bullpen. The 33-year-old righty has been sidelined since mid-June due to a right finger strain. Barring any setbacks, it sounds like he could be back for the Blue Jays’ bullpen prior to the All-Star break.

Assuming all goes well on the farm, he should be back in the Blue Jays’ bullpen early next week. Dolis had registered a 5.14 ERA, 1.57 WHIP, and 25/17 K/BB ratio -- along with three saves -- over 21 innings before landing on the injured list June 17 with a right middle finger strain.

The right-hander left Wednesday’s game with the trainer, and now we know why. The Blue Jays have been snakebit by bullpen injuries lately, so the loss of Dolis comes at a particularly inopportune time.
