Chargers tendered exclusive rights free agent WR/KR Richard Goodman and LS Mike Windt.
Both will receive $540,000 salaries in 2012 and be eligible for restricted free agency in 2013. Goodman, essentially a younger version of Kassim Osgood, didn’t catch a pass last season but averaged a robust 27.5 yards per kick return, including a 105-yard touchdown. He also made five special teams tackles.

The Union-Tribune San Diego expects Roscoe Parrish to join Richard Goodman “at the back end of the team’s rotation at wide receiver.”
Robert Meachem, Malcom Floyd, Vincent Brown and Eddie Royal are essentially locked in as the top four receivers. Parrish will have to prove he’s healthy and effective in training camp to nail down a roster spot as the fifth receiver and punt returner.

Chargers KR/WR Richard Goodman (hamstring) is expected to be out “a while.”
With Eddie Royal sidelined, Goodman was poised to act as the Chargers’ slot receiver in Week 8. Instead, he severely pulled his hamstring on the opening kickoff.
  • FA Wide Receiver #15
Chargers KR Richard Goodman left Sunday’s game against the Browns in the first quarter with a hamstring injury.
Goodman went down on the opening kickoff. He was able to walk off under his own power, but has already been ruled out for the day.
  • FA Wide Receiver #15
Chargers KR Richard Goodman sustained a concussion in the Chargers’ Week 1 win over the Raiders.
Goodman picked up 76 yards on three kickoff returns before leaving. He ranked fourth in the league in kickoff return average last season, behind only Joe McKnight, Randall Cobb and Ted Ginn.
  • FA Wide Receiver #15
Chargers placed KR/WR Richard Goodman on injured reserve with a hamstring injury, ending his season.
Goodman pulled up lame on the opening kickoff of Sunday’s loss. A backup slot receiver, he finishes 2012 with zero catches. A three-year veteran, Goodman is headed for restricted free agency in the offseason.
  • FA Wide Receiver
Coach Norv Turner hinted that Patrick Crayton will be active in Week 3 regardless of Malcom Floyd’s (groin) status.
With Floyd in doubt for Sunday’s game against the Chiefs, it’s possible Crayton will see significant snaps. But he’s not completely over the scope on his ankle and expectations should be kept very low. Crayton would rotate with the likes of Bryan Walters, Vincent Brown, and Richard Goodman.
  • FA Wide Receiver #15
    Chargers re-signed KR/WR Richard Goodman to a one-year, $630,000 contract.
Not an offensive threat, 26-year-old Goodman is a core special teamer in San Diego. He runs downfield on punt and kickoff coverage, and Goodman’s 27.6 kick return average over the past two seasons is the league’s fourth-best mark.
  • FA Wide Receiver #15
    Chargers released WR Richard Goodman.
Goodman was a special teamer and kick returner. Fozzy Whittaker can fill that role, allowing the Chargers to add linebacker help. In three seasons with San Diego, Goodman caught one pass and averaged 27.6 yards per kick return.
  • FA Wide Receiver
Patrick Crayton and newly signed undrafted rookie Richard Goodman handled the first-team receiver snaps at Chargers practice Thursday.
Buster Davis will likely join Crayton in the starting lineup Sunday against the Patriots. Crayton is the best bet for fantasy value this week, and Rotoworld ranks him as the No. 25 option at wide receiver.
