Raiders OT Sam Young is retiring after 11 years in the league.

The Raiders re-signed Young earlier this offseason after he made a career-high seven starts for them in 2020. The veteran tackle was poised to return to a bench role this season but could have provided valuable depth for a team that completely revamped their offensive line this offseason. Young played for six teams across his 11-year career. He’s the third Raider to retire since training camp started.

    Raiders re-signed OT Sam Young.

Young made a career-high seven starts (in his age-33 season nonetheless) for the Raiders last year. Best used off the bench as a veteran swing-tackle, Young will again be asked to soak up a substantial amount of reps for Las Vegas’ revamped trenches in 2021.

Raiders signed OT Sam Young to a one-year contract.

The true definition of a journeyman, 33-year-old Young made four appearances for the 49ers last season. He will be far from assured of cracking the Raiders’ 53-man roster.

    49ers signed T Sam Young to a one-year deal.

Young is familiar with the 49ers offense after spending the preseason with the team. He provides much-needed depth following Joe Staley’s (broken fibula) and Shon Coleman’s (ankle) season-ending injuries.

Free agent OT Sam Young worked out for the 49ers.

The Niners released Young prior to Week 1 but are in dire need of a tackle following Joe Staley’s (broken fibula) and Shon Coleman’s (ankle) season-ending injuries. It wouldn’t be shocking to hear he’s put pen to paper as early as Tuesday afternoon given his familiarity with the offense.

Free agent OT Sam Young worked out for the Dolphins.

Young hasn’t resurfaced since getting released from the 49ers at final cuts. He could be a fit in Miami after losing Julie’n Davenport to IR this week.

    49ers released OT Sam Young.

Initially considered a shoe-in for San Francisco’s swing tackle gig following Shon Coleman’s season-ending ankle injury, Young finds himself searching for a new home only a few short weeks after joining the Niners in mid-August. Justin Skule is the next man up for that role (barring the signing of a seasoned veteran post-final cuts).

    49ers signed OT Sam Young.

Young has finally found a home after spending most of the offseason in free-agent purgatory. The 49ers were seeking O line help after losing Shon Coleman to a dislocated ankle and fractured fibula in Saturday’s preseason opener. Young logged 121 snaps over four games including one start for the Dolphins’ last season.

The Saints are bringing free agent OT Sam Young in for a tryout.

It’s Young’s first known visit of free agency. The Notre Dame alum spent last year in Miami, logging 121 snaps over four games for the Fins including one start. The Saints will also take a look at former Patriot Ulrick John, who is slated to visit next week. Clearly New Orleans is emphasizing O line depth with training camp around the corner.

    Dolphins re-signed OT Sam Young.

They cut S Maurice Smith to make room. Young was bludgeoned in Miami’s Week 6 loss to Cincinnati, causing several offensive breakdowns that led to a late-game collapse. He will resume backing up LT Laremy Tunsil.
