Scott Cousins said he is fully recovered from lower back and hip injuries that caused him to miss most of the final four months of the season last year.
More known for his collision with Buster Posey than anything else, Cousins batted just .135/.224/.212 over 58 plate appearances for the Marlins last season. He’s a career .277/.338/.450 hitter in the minors, though, and has some pop and some speed. The 27-year-old should be able to nail down a bench spot this spring for the Marlins.

Marlins optioned OF Scott Cousins to Triple-A New Orleans.
Cousins entered camp with a good shot at a reserve job but batted just .147/.237/.206 with 15 strikeouts over 34 at-bats. He’ll be up at some point this season.

Scott Cousins went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts Saturday against the Nationals.
Cousins entered camp as the favorite to take one of the Marlins’ reserve outfield spots, but he hasn’t helped himself by striking out 11 times in his first 25 at-bats. He’s batting .200, and he’s yet to drive in a run.

Marlins optioned OF Scott Cousins to Triple-A New Orleans.
Cousins is batting just .167/.188/.282 with one home run and three RBI in 46 major league games this season. He could be brought back to Miami when rosters expand from 25 to 40 at the start of September.

The Marlins are expected to call up Scott Cousins in time for Friday’s series-opener against the Rays.
Cousins has registered a decent .292/.355/.472 batting line with seven home runs, 10 doubles, two triples and 32 RBI in 50 games this season at the Triple-A level. He’s doubtful to hold much fantasy value but is capable of providing quality outfield depth for the Marlins.

Marlins recalled OF Scott Cousins from Triple-A New Orleans.
Cousins batted just .147/.237/.206 in a stint earlier this season with the Fish but earned another shot by hitting .292/.355/.472 with seven homers and 32 RBI at New Orleans. He’ll back up at all three outfield spots.

Making his first start since being called up, Scott Cousins tripled in the go-ahead run in the top of the 15th as the Marlins edged the Rays 4-3 on Saturday.
It was Cousins’ third hit in seven at-bats on the night. That will probably be good enough to earn him another start tomorrow as the Marlins try to figure out their center field situation.

Angels claimed OF Scott Cousins off waivers from the Mariners.
He’s now been claimed by three teams over the last month. Assuming he isn’t designated for assignment again, Cousins will compete for a bench job in spring training.

Giancarlo Stanton (intercostal strain) is out of the Marlins’ starting lineup again on Thursday.
Stanton is hoping to return for Friday’s series-opener against the Phillies. The young slugger hasn’t appeared in a game since September 16 because of a strained left intercostal muscle. Scott Cousins will start in right field in Thursday night’s series finale with the Braves.

Cousins appeared in 53 games with the Marlins this season, batting just .163/.200/.267 with one homer and a .467 OPS in 92 plate appearances. He’ll likely compete for a reserve outfielder job with his new club during spring training.
