NFL suspended WR Shaq Evans four games for violating the league’s substance abuse policy.
Evans will be eligible to return against the Packers in Week 5, though it would be a surprise if he’s still on the team by then. The 26-year-old has yet to play an NFL down since arriving as a fourth-round pick in 2014. He’s likely just a camp body.

    Cowboys waived WR Shaq Evans.
Evans is facing a four-game ban for violating the league’s substance-abuse policy. The 2014 fourth-rounder, who has never appeared in a regular season game, is near the end of the NFL line.

Jets fourth-round WR Shaq Evans “has had issues with drops and has rarely made plays” at training camp.
To top it off, Evans missed Saturday’s scrimmage with a groin injury. Evans has James Jones-ish size (6'1/213) and projects as a chain-moving possession receiver in the NFL. As is the case with most rookies, Evans is probably thinking too much. He missed most of spring because of UCLA’s late graduation.

Coach Rex Ryan revealed fourth-round WR Shaq Evans is dealing with a pretty significant shoulder injury, and could end up on season-ending injured reserve.
Ryan described the injury as “pretty bad.” Reports out of camp haven’t been glowing for Evans, as he’s battled drops and was behind the eight ball due to UCLA’s late graduation. The Jets may simply “redshirt” Evans and roll with what they have at receiver behind Eric Decker and Jeremy Kerley.

Jets signed No. 115 overall pick WR Shaq Evans to a four-year contract.
Standing in at 6-foot-1, 213 pounds, Evans has respectable speed (4.51) and hands. His production dropped off as a senior, though eight of his 43 catches went for touchdowns. He’ll work to establish himself as a chain-moving, possession receiver.

Jets selected UCLA WR Shaq Evans with the No. 115 overall pick in the 2014 NFL draft.
Evans (6-foot-1 1/4, 213) made 32 starts for the Bruins after transferring from Notre Dame, tallying 133 catches for 1,956 yards (14.7 YPR) and 14 touchdowns. He also returned punts as a senior. Evans clocked a respectable 4.51 forty at the Combine with an explosive 10-foot-2 broad jump. A possession, Z-receiver type, Evans’ ceiling is limited but he has a chance to develop into a stick-moving No. 2 NFL wideout.

Free agent WR Shaq Evans worked out for the Giants on Tuesday.
Evans was a fourth-round pick of the Jets last year but missed his rookie year after shoulder surgery. He was part of the Jets’ final cuts over the weekend. Evans had a fine Combine, running 4.51 with a 10-foot-2 broad jump.

Jets waived/released WR Shaq Evans, WR Chris Owusu, WR Walt Powell, TE Arthur Lynch, TE Wes Saxton, RB Daryl Richardson, FB Julian Howsare, OL Charles Brown, OL Wes Johnson, DL Ronald Talley, DL Jordan Williams, LB Deion Barnes, LB Taiwan Jones, CB Keon Lyn and S Durell Eskridge.
The Jets drafted two wide receivers in the fourth round last season: Shaq Evans and Jalen Saunders. Both are no longer on the roster. These moves get the Jets down to the 53-man limit.

Jaguars signed WR Shaq Evans, S Earl Wolff, WR Rasheed Bailey, OG Kadeem Edwards, TE Ben Koyack, WR Rashad Lawrence, LB Sean Porter, OG Chris Reed, and DB Rashaad Reynolds to reserve/future contracts.
Evans (6'1/213) was the Jets’ fourth-round pick out of UCLA back in 2014, but he missed his entire rookie year after undergoing shoulder surgery. The Jets cut him when the new regime came to town. Wolff was a 2013 fifth-rounder.

Jets fourth-round WR Shaq Evans is undergoing shoulder surgery Tuesday.
Coach Rex Ryan recently said Evans is expected to miss the season. Evans’ loss isn’t a big one, just a blow to Gang Green’s depth at receiver, but the Jets haven’t seen much from their rookie class to date. Evans will likely spend his rookie year on injured reserve and come back to compete for a spot next spring.
