Sho Nakata slugged a go-ahead solo homer as Japan defeated Australia 4-1 in Pool B action in the World Baseball Classic.
The game was tied 1-1 before Nakata took Matt Williams deep in the seventh inning. Yoshitomo Tsutsugoh added a two-run homer for insurance one inning later. Japan is now 2-0 in Pool B play and appears on the verge of advancing to the second round.
