Lionel Messi had already scored a hat-trick, and had one more wrongly disallowed. He and Neymar had become the first duo to score in four consecutive La Liga games. The game was 4-0 and long over.
But Luis Suarez still wanted his piece of the pie.
Barcelona’s newest striker bit off another piece out of Levante’s pride as he took Adriano’s cross - slightly behind him on his run towards the net - and deposited it past Diego Marino with an acrobatic overhead kick that baffled defender Ivan Ramis and gave the Uruguayan his fourth La Liga goal of the season.
Take a look as Suarez slides stealthily behind the two defenders and deals with the lofted ball perfectly:
At that point, if you’re Levante, do you just applaud? I would. Not much you can do when an opponent bikes you to go up 5-0. It’s demolition at the Nou Camp, and Barcelona will keep pace with Real Madrid at the top, leaving them still just one point shy of Los Blancos for the La Liga lead.
Meanwhile, Levante remains in the relegation zone, a point from safety. Good luck.
