Henrik Mkhitaryan converted a powerful strike in the 29th minute after Ander Herrera played a brilliant through ball into the path of the former Borussia Dortmund man.
The two nearly linked up just minutes before when Mkhitaryan’s effort was blocked on the doorstep by a Spurs defender.
The finish marks Mkhitaryan’s first since joining the Red Devils in the summer transfer window.
