Chargers signed Minnesota DT Steven Richardson.
Richardson (5’11/295) was a four-year starter on the Gophers’ defensive line, tallying 28.5 career tackles for loss with 12.5 sacks and five forced fumbles. He was an honorable mention All-Big Ten pick as a senior and earned PFF College’s highest interior defensive lineman grade in the entire nation in 2017. Richardson does not fit the NFL’s prototype size for a three-technique tackle, however, and he is far from a nose guard. Richardson is a good player, but he seems likely to max out in a rotational role.
