Patriots signed Vanderbilt TE Steven Scheu.
Scheu (6'5/253) was a four-year starter for the Commodores, catching 83 balls for 933 yards (11.2 YPR) and seven touchdowns. After a fairly nondescript college career in bad passing offenses, Scheu elevated his stock with a 4.75 forty, 33-inch vertical, and 23 bench-press reps at Vanderbilt’s Pro Day. Scheu gave effort as a college blocker and is a reliable short-area possession target. He has No. 2 tight end potential.
