The 32-year-old slashed .273/.355/.306 with 15 RBI across 144 plate appearances for Triple-A Indianapolis. He played in two games for the Pirates and collect two hits in two games. Davis will look to land with another team this offseason, most likely on a minor league deal.

The 32-year-old backstop had been designated for assignment earlier in the week, but passed through waivers unclaimed and accepted his outright assignment to Triple-A. He’ll continue to function as emergency catching depth for the Pirates.

The 32-year-old was just brought up from Triple-A Indianapolis on Thursday, but he’ll be sent out to make room for José Godoy who was claimed off of waivers from the Twins. Expect Davis to pass through waivers unclaimed and return to Triple-A Indianapolis as minor league catching depth.

Davis is up in the majors for the first time this year with the Pirates losing Tyler Heineman to a groin strain. Davis, 32, carries a .244/.289/.341 career slash line in 22 games (45 plate appearances) at the MLB level.

Zero surprises here as the Pirates continue to pare down their spring roster in advance of Opening Day later this week.

Davis played in only two games for the Pirates after being acquired from the Orioles in June. The 31-year-old catcher is a career .244/.289/.341 hitter in 45 total plate appearances at the major league level.

Davis went 2-for-5 with a walk during his short stay on Pittsburgh’s active roster.

Davis was the lone Pirates batter to manage multiple hits against a dominant Ranger Suarez, who tossed a complete game shutout on the afternoon. Prior to receiving three at-bats on Saturday, the 31-year-old backstop had not seen major league action since the 2019 season. Needless to say, there is no fantasy intrigue, here.

He’ll help out at catcher down the stretch with Jacob Stallings (concussion) out. Davis has a .678 OPS with two homers at the Triple-A level this season.

Davis was slashing .289/.372/.368 through 43 plate appearances this season with the Triple-A affiliate of the Orioles in Norfolk. The 31-year-old catcher hasn’t appeared in a major league game since 2019.
