    Ravens waived WR Tayvion Robinson.
Robinson signed with the Ravens as a UDFA after this year’s draft but won’t be joining them in training camp. The former Kentucky receiver who played 66.3 percent of his college snaps from the slot could catch on with another team in the coming days, but will be considered a long-shot to make a 53-man roster.

Ravens signed Kentucky WR Tayvion Robinson
Robinson (5’11/191) totaled 194 receptions for 2,604 yards and 16 touchdowns during a five-year collegiate career. A former three-star recruit who got his start at Virginia Tech, Robinson transferred to Kentucky ahead of the 2022 season and totaled 81-1049-7 in two years with the Wildcats. He’s one of several slot receivers in this class who have proven to be threats after the catch, averaging 6.9 YAC/REC for his career while forcing a missed tackle on 23.6 percent of his receptions. Robinson also rushed 39 times for 277 yards in his career and could have some utility as a gadget receiver.

Former Virginia Tech sophomore WR Tayvion Robinson transferred to Kentucky.
Robinson (5'10/187) entered the transfer portal on December 2nd, and wasted little time in deciding where he would play in 2022 after committing to the Wildcats on Saturday. In 2021, Robinson caught 44 passes for 559 yards and five touchdowns, with his biggest game coming in the season finale against Virginia when he caught three passes for 89 yards and one touchdown. He also was used in the run game fairly often, carrying 27 times for 216 yards on 8.0 yards per rush. He could fill a role similar to what we saw from Wan’Dale Robinson this season in OC Liam Cohen’s offense.

Virginia Tech sophomore WR Tayvion Robinson has entered the transfer portal.
Robinson (5'10/187) is looking for a change of scenery, indicating he is moving on from the Hokies as he entered the transfer portal this week. Robinson played a decent role this past season, catching 44 receptions for 559 yards with five touchdowns. It will be interesting to see what the future holds for him.

  • FA Wide Receiver
Virginia Tech sophomore WR Tayvion Robinson caught five passes for 98 yards and a touchdown in a 33-15 win over Virginia on Saturday.
Robinson took a Braxton Burmeister pass 60 yards to the house that gave the Hokies a 27-7 lead they didn’t look back from late in the second quarter. That’s the third touchdown of the season for the 5-foot-10, 187-pound sophomore, and he just misses on his first game over the century mark in 2020. Robinson had some issues dealing with punt returns this year, but his playmaking ability is readily apparent. He should be among the leaders at his position in the ACC next fall.

Virginia Tech sophomore WR Tayvion Robinson brought in just two catches for 29 yards in Saturday’s 40-14 win over
Robinson entered the afternoon as Virginia Tech’s leading wide receiver. While that still holds true, it hardly looked like it on Saturday. The Hokies barely threw the ball, resulting in just two receptions for the 5-foot-10, 187-pound sophomore. Robinson’s 29 yards were the fewest he has earned in any game this year. Granted, it is hard to blame the Hokies for leaning on the run considering how well it was working, but it’s going to hurt Robinson’s end-of-year totals.

Virginia Tech sophomore WR Tayvion Robinson is expected to retain the punt returner job despite struggles in the team’s first two games.
Robinson (5'10/187) has mishandled a punt in each of Virginia Tech’s two games this season, the second of which directly resulted in a Duke touchdown this past Saturday. While the sophomore wideout was replaced by RB Raheem Blackshear after that error, he appears poised to retain the punt return job for Saturday’s game against North Carolina. “I would probably edge toward we’ll put Tayvion back there, but we’ll see how practice goes,” HC Justin Fuente said. “I really was proud of Tayvion and how he responded after a rough start, first play of the game and then the punt deal.” Robinson caught two passes for 85 yards in the win over the Blue Devils, which included a key 56-yard reception during the third quarter.

  • FA Wide Receiver
Virginia Tech freshman WR Tayvion Robinson brought in two receptions for 74 yards in a 28-0 shellacking of Pittsburgh on Saturday.
Robinson had been a complete non-factor in the month of November as a receiver, although he’s been able to make some plays with gadget plays in the run game. He showed off his athleticism on one of the biggest plays of the game on Saturday; a 71-yarder from Hendon Hooker that set up a score. Robinson is a name to keep in mind for 2020, but he could make another big play or two on Friday in a showdown with Virginia for the ACC Coastal.

Virginia Tech freshman WR Tayvion Robinson caught four passes for 62 yards in Saturday’s 31-17 win over Old Dominion.
The Hokies are trying to retool their offense this season and Robinson is a key part of that plan. Though he didn’t score this week like he did in the opener, Robinson lead the team in yards and proved himself again to be the team’s most important wide receiver. Robinson won’t get a tough matchup when the Hokies take on Furman next week, but look for him to be a rock for Virginia Tech’s passing offense during conference play.
